Los Angeles Rams get past Carolina Panthers 34-31 with last-minute TD pass in NFL playoff opener
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Matthew Stafford threw a 19-yard go-ahead touchdown pass to Colby Parkinson with 38 seconds left to lift the Los Angeles Rams to a dramatic 34-31 wild-card win over the Carolina Panthers in the opening game of the NFL playoffs Saturday.
Stafford finished 24 of 42 for 304 yards with three touchdown passes and an interception, while Puka Nacua had 10 receptions for 111 yards and scored two touchdowns as the Rams (13-5), who were 10½-point favorites, advanced to the divisional playoffs.
Bryce Young threw for 264 yards and a touchdown and ran for another score for the Panthers (8-10), who finished the season losing four of their final five games. Jalen Coker had career highs with nine receptions for 134 yards with a touchdown and Chuba Hubbard ran for 46 yards and two touchdowns.
The Panthers fell behind 14-0 early but stormed back to take a 24-20 lead on Hubbard’s second touchdown early in the fourth quarter.
Stafford, who was selected as an All-Pro earlier in the day, led the Rams back down the field and found Kyren Williams for a 13-yard touchdown strike over the middle for a 27-24 lead.
Los Angeles appeared to be in charge after getting a stop on defense, giving Stafford the ball back.
But a holding penalty put the Rams behind the sticks and forced a punt, which Isaiah Simmons blocked to set up the Panthers at the Rams 30.
Four plays later, Young found Coker in the left corner of the end zone for a 7-yard scoring strike to give Carolina a 31-27 lead with 2:39 left, sending the home crowd into a frenzy.
But Stafford quickly moved the Rams 71 yards in seven plays with Panthers two-time Pro Bowl cornerback Jaycee Horn on the sideline with a concussion, finishing it off with a perfectly placed pass to Parkinson near the right side of the goal line. Parkinson, who had two touchdowns last week, forced his way into the end zone for the score.
“Yeah, total team effort,” Stafford said. “Obviously had some mistakes along the way. I turned it over, we had a punt blocked, didn’t score before the half when we probably should have. So a lot to clean up, but found a way to win it late. I believe in my teammates. I know they believe in me.”
It was nearly the second time this season the Rams lost to the Panthers as a 10½-point favorite. Carolina won 31-28 on Nov. 30.
The Panthers’ last attempt to move into field-goal range ended when Jimmy Horn dropped a fourth-down pass from Young.
Carolina was hoping the return of former quarterback Cam Newton to Bank of America Stadium to hit the “Keep Pounding” drum before the game would give the Panthers a little extra mojo early, but things didn’t start well.
After the Rams defense came up with a stop on fourth down at midfield on Carolina’s opening drive, Stafford quickly moved the offense downfield and found Nacua for a 14-yard touchdown pass over the middle for a 7-0 lead.
Nacua made it 14-0 on a 5-yard run after Young’s interception.
The Panthers cut the lead to 17-14 at halftime on a 1-yard touchdown run by Hubbard and a 16-yard scramble by Young, the second-longest TD run of his career.
The Rams had a chance to build on the lead, but Nacua dropped a potential third touchdown on a pass down the right sideline from Stafford just before halftime.
Stafford surpassed Kurt Warner for the most postseason passing yards and completions in Rams history.

Amazon Is Ditching The United States Postal Service
Amazon Is Ditching The United States Postal Service
After nearly three decades of working together, Amazon is ending its delivery relationship with the United States Postal Service, a move that significantly alters how packages are moved across the country, according to MSN.
The partnership once played a major role in Amazon’s rapid expansion while generating billions in yearly revenue for USPS. The decision comes as the Postal Service continues to struggle financially, including a reported $9.5 billion loss in its most recent fiscal year.
For much of Amazon’s growth, USPS provided nationwide coverage, especially in rural and remote areas where private carriers often cannot operate profitably. That reach allowed Amazon to deliver to virtually every address in the country, making the arrangement one of the largest public-private logistics partnerships in U.S. history. Recent contract negotiations and changes to USPS pricing appear to have pushed Amazon toward a different approach. Instead of renewing the agreement, the company is shifting more deliveries to its own expanding logistics network, tightening its control over speed, cost, and customer experience.
MSN notes that the shift raises serious concerns for workers. Analysts estimate that as many as 100,000 jobs connected directly or indirectly to Amazon’s shipping volume could be affected across postal operations, transportation, and contract delivery services. Although the changes may unfold gradually, declining package volume could lead to staffing reductions across multiple regions.
For USPS, losing Amazon removes a key revenue source that helped offset long-term declines in traditional mail. Without that income, the agency may be forced to accelerate cost-cutting, restructure routes, and reduce staffing through attrition and reorganization. At the same time, consumers may begin to notice changes in delivery patterns. In urban areas, Amazon drivers and third-party contractors are likely to take over more deliveries, while in less populated regions customers may experience shifts in delivery timing or service availability as Amazon adjusts its logistics footprint.
The Postal Service is now exploring new ways to stabilize revenue, including opening its delivery network to competitive bids from other retailers and logistics companies. The separation highlights the growing divide between public service obligations and the fast-moving demands of modern ecommerce. As private companies expand their own delivery systems and public institutions fight to remain financially viable, the end of this partnership may be remembered as a defining moment in the evolution of American logistics and commerce.

DNC Signals Possible Legal Action Against 10 States Over Proposed DOJ Voter-List Agreement
DNC Signals Possible Legal Action Against 10 States Over Proposed DOJ Voter-List Agreement
Authored by Chase Smith via The Epoch Times,
The Democratic National Committee (DNC) sent warning letters to election officials in 10 states on Friday, saying proposed agreements with the Justice Department to share unredacted voter registration files and act on list maintenance concerns could violate federal election law.
The letters went to election offices in Alabama, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, and Utah. In each, the DNC said the Justice Department indicated the state had entered or could soon enter a memorandum of understanding that “appears to require violations” of the National Voter Registration Act (NVRA).
A Justice Department spokesperson told The Epoch Times in an email, “The Department of Justice has statutory authority to enforce our nation’s election laws and protect the integrity of our electoral system. Organizations should think twice before interfering in a federal investigation and encouraging the obstruction of justice, unless they’d like to join the dozens of states that are learning their lesson in federal court.”
Earlier this week, the Justice Department said it had sued Arizona and Connecticut, alleging the states failed to turn over their full voter registration rolls for federal inspection. DOJ said the filings brought its nationwide total to 23 states plus the District of Columbia in lawsuits tied to access to statewide voter registration lists.
In Arizona, the lawsuit says U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi requested the voter registration list from Arizona Secretary of State Adrian Fontes in July 2025 and later extended the deadline to September 2025. The suit says Fontes refused, citing state and federal privacy laws, and asks a court to compel production under the Civil Rights Act’s information-production provisions.
Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes told The Epoch Times that “Arizonans’ private voter registration information is not up for grabs,” and Fontes said he declined due to privacy concerns.
In Connecticut, the lawsuit says Bondi requested the list in August 2025 and then demanded it in December 2025, but Connecticut Secretary of State Stephanie Thomas said state law bars release of the information sought. Connecticut Attorney General William Tong said the state tried to work with DOJ but “rather than communicating productively with us, they rushed to sue.”
The DNC’s letters to the 10 states pointed to a proposed agreement that would require a state to agree that “within forty-five (45) days of receiving notice from the Justice Department of any issues, insufficiencies, inadequacies, deficiencies, anomalies, or concerns,” the state would “clean” its voter registration list or data “by removing ineligible voters” and resubmit updated data to DOJ for verification.
The party argued that a “45-Day Removal Demand” could conflict with NVRA provisions that govern how states remove voters based on suspected changes in residence and that restrict certain systematic list-maintenance activity close to federal elections. In a longer legal argument, the DNC said the NVRA’s affirmative list-maintenance mandate requires a “reasonable effort” to remove certain categories of ineligible registrants and argued the proposed demand goes beyond what federal law requires.
The letters also sought records from the states, including documents related to any DOJ agreement and information about any voters removed, inactivated, or contacted based on the 45-day demand or other DOJ-provided information, including the voter’s party affiliation and the purported basis of ineligibility. The letters asked for responsive records dating from Jan. 1, 2025, to the present.
The DNC signaled it could escalate the matter but said the current letters were not the formal notice that can precede litigation under the NVRA. In the Alabama letter, the DNC wrote that the state may not yet have violated the NVRA and said the letter “does not constitute written notice of violations of the NVRA,” adding that the party “stands ready to issue a formal notice” if evidence of ongoing violations emerges.
The DNC said its concerns were triggered, in part, by statements made in a Dec. 4, 2025, federal court hearing. In the Mississippi letter, the DNC cited a transcript and wrote that the acting chief of the DOJ Voting Section told a judge the state had “expressed … a willingness” to enter a proposed memorandum concerning voter registration list maintenance.
The White House defended the Justice Department’s authority to press states on voter roll maintenance.
White House spokesperson Abigail Jackson told The Epoch Times in an email, “The Civil Rights Act, National Voting Rights Act, and Help America Vote Act all give the Department of Justice full authority to ensure states comply with federal election laws, which mandate accurate state voter rolls. President Trump is committed to ensuring that Americans have full confidence in the administration of elections, and that includes totally accurate and up-to-date voter rolls free of errors and unlawfully registered non-citizen voters.”
The Epoch Times reached out to the 10 state officials addressed in the letters but did not hear back prior to publication.

Daily Horoscope for January 11, 2026
General Daily Insight for January 11, 2026
Don’t jump to conclusions! As romantic Venus squares tender Chiron at 11:13 AM EST, we’re braced to navigate friction between comfort and growth. Honest discussions of sensitive topics may pinch before they heal. We can name our sore spots and protect trust with gentle boundaries, because doing these small repairs prevents bigger hurts down the line. Later, the emotional Moon squares transformative Pluto, which invites us to breathe through power struggles and rebuild care. Gentle honesty strengthens bonds and protects our tender hearts.
Aries
March 21 – April 19
Aries, your focus sharpens around meaningful goals. Values-driven Venus squares wounded healer Chiron in your 10th House of Career and your very own sign, bringing a test in recognition or pay that asks for courage over defensiveness. While you could feel somewhat over-exposed, you can handle feedback like a pro by setting clear limits and proposing workable next steps. If someone attempts to rush you, stand firm! You know what you can handle, and you can avoid stress by being honest about your capacity.
Taurus
April 20 – May 20
This morning invites a wider look around. Your 9th House of Higher Learning awakens as Venus squares vulnerable Chiron, with Chiron in your subtler 12th house. This asks you to challenge a limiting belief, which could come through in discussions of educational plans or travel budgets. Whatever you’re talking about, it deserves cautious patience — not rushed judgments. You can potentially gain supporters of your opinions by sharing your thought process clearly. Ask questions kindly, because curiosity opens doors and hearts.
Gemini
May 21 – June 20
Read your message drafts twice before clicking send. In particular, any talks about money or shared secrets deserve thoughtful responses — especially as loving Venus squares healing Chiron across your vulnerable 8th house and your 11th House of Friendship. For instance, someone might not be coming through on their half of a shared subscription, but you can ask them about it kindly rather than accusingly. Right now, open discussions of everyone’s expectations are the best way to stop conflict before it starts.
Cancer
June 21 – July 22
Understanding grows as you ask for the care you need. Partnership conversations shift as Venus (in your 7th House of Collaborations) nudges aching Chiron, encouraging clear requests and brave listening across family or professional bonds. If a companion delays plans, state what works for you and propose a simple solution that respects both sides. Even as Chiron in your 10th House of Status brings public pressure, grace can strengthen the bridge between needs and duties. Ask gently yet clearly, because knowledge nourishes affection.
Leo
July 23 – August 22
Watch out — complications ahead! It’s likely time to tap the brakes, but that doesn’t mean you have to stop completely. When planets collide, patience protects your progress. Your 6th House of Health is entangled with your lofty 9th house as beauty-focused Venus squares moody Chiron, nudging you to adjust schedules and self-care routines with steady compassion. At this time, lasting progress is more attainable through small wins and tidy follow-through. Steady pacing should build beautiful results that actually last.
Virgo
August 23 – September 22
Quiet confidence arrives as you make thoughtful choices throughout the day. Venus is in your upbeat 5th house, where she’ll square therapeutic Chiron in your committed 8th house. Perfection isn’t possible, but that doesn’t mean you can’t strive to improve every day. The universe values lifelong learners, and the best way to be one is to stay curious. You’re allowed to make mistakes — it’s a natural part of refining your process. Favor small improvements, because consistent work supports personal confidence and social connections.
Libra
September 23 – October 22
Libra, grace emerges through honest answers. Home dynamics ask for care as harmony-seeking Venus squares pensive Chiron, with Venus in your 4th House of Family and Chiron in your 7th House of Alliances. This is a reminder to value clear structure around chores or privacy. If a roommate leaves dishes for days, you’re allowed to point that out! Just do so calmly, or they might avoid the issue even more. Clear, polite requests should make home life smoother and kinder for all.
Scorpio
October 23 – November 21
Deeper feelings are shaping even casual conversations. Your 3rd House of Communication comes forward as desire-driven Venus squares clumsy Chiron, encouraging you to use simple language and slow pacing to ensure everyone can keep up. If a sibling or long-time friend pushes your buttons, do your best to avoid snapping back (unless that’s the kind of playful banter you enjoy having). In more serious discussions, be willing to ask follow-up questions, even if they slow things down. Rushing ahead is a fast path to drama!
Sagittarius
November 22 – December 21
The truth can be complicated — today, though, it’s more likely to simplify things. Money-minded Venus is squaring curative Chiron, pushing you to match your spending habits with your values (without shaming yourself or others). This may look like turning down an outing you could technically afford, but it would inhibit the rest of the month’s budget. Stay strong! Little treats aren’t worth an empty bank account. Thoughtful spending can’t solve everything, but it’s one of the easiest ways to support your financial freedom.
Capricorn
December 22 – January 19
Self-respect rises when you speak plainly. Encouraging Venus squares ruminative Chiron, highlighting your sense of identity and asking you to honor needs without apology — especially regarding how you act and present yourself. If a colleague doubts your timeline on a deliverable, you hold firm and keep it respectful while staying open to feedback. Personal issues could impede your plans as well, but you can weather any storm with patience. Aggression isn’t necessary to stand up for yourself. Trust your soul to anchor your choices.
Aquarius
January 20 – February 18
When tenderness meets truth, healing begins. Your 12th House of Closure asks for quiet as connection-focused Venus squares edgy Chiron, encouraging rest, journaling, or other ways of communicating with your inner self. Old thoughts may swirl, especially during otherwise mindless activities, like driving or doing the dishes. That might not be the time to ponder such things! You might need to step back or even pull over if you can’t get past aches off your mind. It’s okay to need a break now and then.
Pisces
February 19 – March 20
Soft encouragement helps friendships feel safe again. Compassionate Venus squares cosmic medic Chiron, involving your 11th House of Connections and your 2nd House of Manifestation. Your groups are the universe’s focus, whether they’re professional or personal, online or off. Try to be aware of how much time and money you spend with different circles. You may need to suggest a less expensive method of hanging out together! Don’t worry — with a little creative collaboration, you should be able to honor everyone’s desires and budgets.

Jóvenes Leones Indomables devuelven la esperanza a Camerún tras agitación previa a Copa Africana
Por CIARNÁN FAHEY
RABAT, Marruecos (AP) — Al final, incluso Samuel Eto’o estaba feliz.
