Epstein no dirigía una red de tráfico sexual para hombres poderosos, concluye en FBI

NUEVA YORK (AP) — El FBI examinó minuciosamente los registros bancarios y correos electrónicos de Jeffrey Epstein. Registró sus hogares. Pasó años entrevistando a sus víctimas y examinando sus conexiones con algunas de las personas más influyentes del mundo.

La abogada de Black, Susan Estrich, dijo que su cliente le había pagado a Epstein por planificación patrimonial y asesoramiento fiscal. With polling showing over 80 percent of Americans in favor of voter ID laws, it is hard to come up with reasons why you need an ID to board a plane but not vote in a federal election. That was particularly glaring this week when Sen. Jon Ossoff (D-Ga.) required people to show an ID to attend his campaign events after opposing an ID requirement to vote. So if you want to hear Ossoff speak against voter ID, you will have to show your ID. Now Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) has a rather bizarre argument: the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act, if passed, would likely violate the 19th Amendment to the Constitution.
CNN Host Kasie Hunt told Raskin that “Voter ID is supported by the majority of Americans. But there are Democrats on the Hill and you voted against this? Why not support voter ID?”
Raskin then had this curious response:
“… what’s wrong with the Save act? What’s wrong with it is that it might violate the 19th Amendment, which gives women the right to vote, because you’ve got to show that all of your different IDs match.
So if you’re a woman who’s gotten married and you’ve changed your name to your husband’s name, but you’re so now your current name is different from your name at birth.
Now you’ve got to go ahead and document that you need an affidavit explaining why. And why would we go to all of these, troubles in order to keep people from voting when none of the states that are actually running the elections are telling us that there’s any problem.”
In fact, under various voter ID laws, states can create systems to address issues such as different maiden names or name changes following a divorce, including requiring a standard attestation provided by the state.
Nothing in the SAVE Act requires birth certificates be brought to polling places.
It allows for the use of a signed attestation supplied by the state.
As for identification, various forms are allowed:
The legislation would require documentation that shows an individual was born in the U.S., including either:
An ID that complies with the REAL ID Act and indicates the holder is a citizen;
A passport;
A military ID card and military record of service that shows a person was born in the U.S.;
A government-issued photo ID that shows the person’s place of birth was in the U.S.;
Other forms of government-issued photo ID, if they’re accompanied by a birth certificate, comparable document or naturalization certificate.
Now, on the 19th Amendment, Raskin’s argument is simply ridiculous. Indeed, if this were credible, why has it not been used successfully against prior state voting ID laws? Rather than making this claim on CNN, it would be interesting for Raskin to try it in court once the SAVE Act passes.
It is unlikely to succeed because the 19th Amendment guarantees the right to vote, but, like all citizens, women can be asked to prove their eligibility to vote. The suggestion that requiring a signature on an attestation form is a barrier to voting is simply incredible.
The Nineteenth Amendment provides:
The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex.
Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.
Requiring proof of your identity neither denies nor abridges the right to vote. Indeed, for supporters of voter ID laws, it protects the right to vote by ensuring that only eligible voters are counted in elections.
Would requiring the REAL ID also violate constitutional rights like the right to travel or association for those with name changes? Of course not. The government may require basic identification for such transactions while creating reasonable methods of addressing name or address changes.
The claim of a 19th Amendment violation is spurious but par for the course in our current political environment. As with claims that democracy is about to die, these inflammatory claims are designed to distract voters who overwhelmingly support Voter ID. Democratic members are unified in opposing such laws. That is a debate that should be resolved on the merits, not meritless constitutional claims.

An eye-opening and massive number of C-17 Globemaster military transport and cargo planes have been observed heading to Europe and the Middle East, in what some monitors have forewarned looks like the build-up to major war in Iran.
One regional watcher and pundit commented in response: “112 C-17s are in or on their way to the Middle East. Guys, that’s a lot. Like Desert Storm a lot. Stay tuned.”
This as on Friday the prominent open source account Armchair Admiral and others used public flight tracking data to tally that the huge armada of US Air Force C-17s and counting are en route – a trend since mid-January.
“A total of 112 U.S. Air Force C-17’s have now either arrived or are en route to the Middle East with a further 17-18 in-progress flights, a number of Royal Air Force logistics flights from RAF Marham to RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus, and movement on U.S. Air Force CORONETs,” the source said.
C-17s are massive, and can deliver huge amounts of equipment or large numbers of troops in a single go. The US military lists some of the following key capabilities:
Payload capacity of over 170,000 pounds
Ability to operate on short, austere runways as small as 3,500 feet
Intercontinental range, with in-flight refueling extending reach even further
Rapid load/unload design to keep missions moving under pressure
Iran and the US just concluded an initial round of indirect talks mediated by Oman, but despite some hopeful statements issued by either side, it is very clear Iran is not willing to negotiate its ballistic missile program – a sticking point being demanded by Washington. A second round is expected in the coming days, unless military action ensues first.
Iran’s foreign minister has newly questioned whether Washington is taking these talks seriously, or if they are merely a pretext for more time to allow for a US force build-up in the region.

FM Abbas Araghchi asserted Tehran is not intimidated but that this raises “doubts about the other party’s seriousness and readiness to engage in genuine negotiations.” He added: “We are closely monitoring the situation, assessing all the signals, and will decide whether to continue the negotiations.”
Prior to these weekend comments, the Iranian top diplomat stated, “If the United States launches an attack against us, we do not have the capability to attack its territory, so we would target American bases in the region. This would draw the entire region into war. We do not attack neighboring countries; we target American bases.”

Man shot and killed by Waukegan police, authorities say
Waukegan police officers shot and killed a man during an incident Saturday, the department said in a news release.
According to the release, three officers responded to a residence in the 1000 block of Leith Street at about 2:54 p.m. for a report of subject who had attempted to commit suicide.
The shooting victim is a 58-year-old Waukegan man, police said. The release did not provide details of what prompted the shooting.
First responders provided aid to the man, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Illinois State Police were called in to investigate.

VU German prof wins state teaching honor
Timothy Malchow, professor of world languages and cultures at Valparaiso University, was recently named Teacher of the Year by the Indiana Foreign Language Teachers Association and the Collegiate Teacher of the Year by the Indiana Chapter of the American Association of Teachers of German, according to a release.
The Teacher of the Year award is given to a state teacher of any language to recognize “outstanding effort and achievement in foreign
language instruction and professional service in the state of Indiana,” the release said.
Fashion, philanthropy celebrated at March event
A fundraising event set for March 4 will combine fashion with philanthropy as ticket holders compete for a chance to win name-brand purses and designer sunglasses while supporting the advancement of women in the area, according to a release.
The Northwest Indiana Influential Women Association’s Designer Purse & Sunglass Bingo supports the organization’s mentorship program, which brings together women leaders as mentors and pairs them with rising stars, the release said.
The Designer Purse & Sunglass Bingo will be held 5-8 p.m. March 4, at St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church & Pavilion, 9191 Mississippi St., Merrillville. Tickets are $20, not including bingo, and available on NWIIWA’s website. In addition to games, the bingo event will feature a light dinner, cash bar and opportunities to network.
PNW professor recognized
Purdue University Northwest Nils K. Nelson Endowed Professor of Integrative Human Health John Durocher has been named a 2026 Fellow of the American Physiological Society, a release said.
Durocher was recognized with esteemed member status from the American Physiological Society in the category of Teaching of Physiology. As a member of the FAPS class of 2026, he joins others honored for their outstanding scientific contributions, significant impact on physiology and dedicated service to the society, the release said.
Fellowship status in the APS is awarded selectively across the society’s 12 sections, typically with only one or two individuals per
section being recognized each year. At PNW, Durocher focuses on teaching, research and service in integrative human health and
kinesiology. Durocher is the founding director of the PNW Integrative Physiology and Health Sciences Center and serves as coordinator of the Integrative Human Health Bachelor of Science Degree and Kinesiology concentration.
Round Lake couple charged in death of malnourished 8-year-old: ‘It is natural to feel anger … to ask why’
A Round Lake woman and her boyfriend are facing murder charges after authorities said the woman’s malnourished, bruised child was found dead at their home.
Dominique Servant, 33, and Joey L. Ruffin, 38, are charged with first-degree murder and child endangerment in the death of Servant’s 8-year-old son.
During a Sunday court appearance, prosecutors said Ruffin regularly hit the child with a belt and made the boy hold weights over this head as a punishment. On Friday, the child seemed “sluggish,” so Ruffin made the boy take a cold shower, prosecutors said. The child later collapsed, they said.
A 10-year-old sibling of the victim was brought to a hospital for treatment of apparent malnourishment and abuse, according to reports.
Authorities said that police and fire/rescue personnel were dispatched Friday shortly after 2 p.m. to the 1900 block of Cedar Lake Road for a report of an unresponsive child.
Police and paramedics began CPR, and the child was brought to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
First responders noticed that the child seemed malnourished and had bruising on his body, police said.
Police and the Lake County Major Crime Task Force investigated and determined that the child had been subjected to long-term neglect and physical and mental abuse, the task force said in a news release.
The Lake County Coroner’s Office said it made similar findings during an initial examination, according to the task force.
Prosecutors said they would seek to have Ruffin and Servant detained during a Sunday court appearance. Judge James Simonian ordered them held until a detention hearing on Monday.
Ruffin made recordings of himself punishing the child, prosecutors said, including one taken just about an hour before 911 was called.
Round Lake Beach Police Chief Ryan Rodriguez said he and his officers were “shaken to the core” by the child’s death.
“There are simply no words that can fully capture the heartbreak we feel as parents, neighbors, friends, and as a police department,” he said in a social media post. “When a precious child is taken from us in such a way, it is natural to feel anger. It is natural to feel confusion. It is natural to ask why.
“I share in that grief,” he said. “In moments like this, we must come together, not apart. We must support one another.”
“This 8-year old child should still be alive, and this horrific crime was preventable,” State’s Attorney Eric Rinehart said. “In light of the ongoing nature of this investigation, the moral mandate that we secure justice, and the need to hold every responsible party accountable, we will be providing limited information prior to a full presentment of charges to the grand jury.”

Venture capitalist David Sacks has slammed The New York Times for its glaring failure to scrutinize Reid Hoffman, the LinkedIn co-founder emerging as the top Silicon Valley figure in the explosive Jeffrey Epstein files.
In a scathing segment on the All-In Podcast, Sacks highlighted how the establishment media targets right-leaning tech moguls while giving a free pass to left-wing donors deeply entangled with Epstein.

He continued, “Reid stayed at the trifecta which is not just the island but the townhouse and the New Mexico ranch. And if you’re gonna write about Mark Zuckerberg organize that famous dinner how can you not mention that as the root of Epstein’s involvement in Silicon Valley?”
“And yet Reid just gets a mentioned in one sentence of article along with several other people,” Sacks stressed.
He accused the Times of selective outrage, noting “It is crazy. I mean The New York Times clearly has a list people they consider approved targets. They are all right coded people like Elon or Peter Thiel.”
“And they become targets but the people who have donated hundreds millions dollars to the Democrat Party and have paid for dirty tricks against Trump, they basically are spared. Honestly this is just emblematic of the whole institutional rot in a distrust in the country right there,” Sacks explained.
“Part of the cabal, it’s part of the institutions that people are losing faith in, and you know Epstein was a scumbag and the fact of matter is we’re not seeing equal play on both sides,” Sacks further urged.
The remarks come amid fresh revelations from the Justice Department’s massive Epstein document dump, which includes emails showing Hoffman’s ongoing interactions with the convicted sex offender long after his 2008 plea deal.
Newly unsealed emails reveal Hoffman discussing visits to Epstein’s notorious private island, his New Mexico ranch, and his New York apartment. One 2015 message has Epstein boasting about a “wild dinner” with Hoffman, Mark Zuckerberg, and others.
