Atlanta Falcons fire assistant coach LaTroy Lewis amid sexual assault investigation

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. — The Atlanta Falcons dismissed assistant defensive line coach LaTroy Lewis on Friday, just hours before he was named as a suspect in a sexual assault case.

The dismissal came shortly after the Falcons said they were looking into allegations that surfaced on social media.

“We are aware of allegations regarding LaTroy Lewis,” the Falcons said in a statement before making the move to fire Lewis. “We are in the process of gathering information and will have no further comment at this time.”

A direct message seeking comment was sent to Lewis on social media.

The allegations date to Lewis’ time at the University of Michigan, where he served as a graduate assistant for the 2022 season before being promoted to assistant defensive line coach for the next two seasons.

“The Ann Arbor Police Department was just recently made aware of allegations regarding a sexual assault reported to have occurred on December 5, 2024,” Ann Arbor Police spokesman Chris Page said. “The suspect in this investigation is LaTroy Lewis.

“The AAPD Detective Bureau launched an immediate investigation into the incident. This investigation remains active and ongoing.”

Milford Police, which the social media report said responded to a 911 call involving Lewis, said police reports weren’t currently available. A request was sent to Ann Arbor Police to obtain the police report and protection order tied to the allegations against Lewis that were published on social media by podcast host Justin Spiro.

Lewis coached under former Michigan coaches Sherrone Moore and Jim Harbaugh. Moore was fired in December after having an inappropriate relationship with a staff member and charged with three crimes, including felony home invasion and stalking.

“As we have noted, the university launched an investigation of the circumstances and conduct leading to Sherrone Moore’s firing, as well as a broader culture review of the athletic department,” Michigan spokesman Paul Corliss said Friday. “We continue to urge anyone with relevant information to reach out to the law firm conducting the investigation.

“The work is ongoing, and we will be able to share more when it is completed.”

Lewis, 32, who is from Akron, Ohio, was a standout linebacker at Tennessee and played in two NFL games with the Houston Texans during the 2017 season.

Lewis was hired by the Falcons earlier this month after he spent the 2025 season as Toledo’s defensive line coach.

“Stop This Ridiculousness”: Maryland Sheriffs Unite Against Unhinged Democrats

“Stop This Ridiculousness”: Maryland Sheriffs Unite Against Unhinged Democrats

Maryland sheriffs from across the deep blue state traveled to Annapolis on Wednesday to voice outrage over unhinged Democrats who control the state under one-party rule and continue pushing extremely unpopular policies that protect illegal aliens.

This is nothing more than POLITICS over PUBLIC SAFETY!” Wicomico County Sheriff Mike Lewis told reporters. He blasted left-wing immigration legislation in the General Assembly to block ICE cooperation with local law enforcement.

Lewis continued, “We, as elected sheriffs, are FED UP with it! You don’t see this many sheriffs in one location in the state at any given time. But we have to come together in unison to stop the ridiculousness that’s going on up here in Annapolis, Maryland. And lawmakers need to wake up and realize Marylanders and the American people want public safety over politics, and they’re not getting it.”

🚨 HOLY CRAP! Maryland Sheriff Michael Lewis of Wicomico County ERUPTS on state Democrats trying to ban police from working with ICE

He’s SURROUNDED by his fellow Maryland sheriffs: “We as elected sheriffs are FED UP with it! You don’t see this many sheriffs in one location in… pic.twitter.com/TBIbi2Sku8

— Eric Daugherty (@EricLDaugh) February 26, 2026

The sheriffs’ press conference in Annapolis came about a week after leftist Gov. Wes Moore signed a law restricting local police agreements with ICE, including so-called 287(g) deals.

Frederick County Sheriff Chuck Jenkins warned that sheriffs may challenge the new law in court and warned that the broader legislative effort is aimed at “handcuffing” police.

Sheriffs last week.

BREAKING – Nine Maryland sheriffs have just announced they will ignore Democrat Gov. Wes Moore’s ban on cooperation with ICE and continue allowing officers to be deputized by the federal government for immigration screenings. pic.twitter.com/BHpzAQeFEu

— Right Angle News Network (@Rightanglenews) February 20, 2026

At the same time, Annapolis lawmakers are advancing additional measures. In the House, a bill won preliminary approval that would let prosecutors use surveillance tools to identify masked federal agents and pursue civil rights cases. In the Senate, lawmakers debated the Community Trust Act, which would bar local police and jails from detaining people based on immigration status unless there is a judicial warrant, blocking action based solely on administrative warrants.

Jenkins recently told Fox News that what comes next is the “release of these criminals over time, and we don’t turn them over to ICE in our jails; ICE is going to come out on the street to make their apprehensions.”

This is exactly the same setup in other sanctuary cities and states where ICE has to be deployed because left-wing politicians make it difficult for local law enforcement to work with the federal government. And this situation can lead to tense situations like those seen in Minneapolis.

Marylanders are becoming increasingly fed up with the one-party rule state of Democratic Party kings and queens who prioritize everything from failed green policies to woke to illegals instead of efficiently running the state and enforcing law and order.

Horrible governance is imploding the state, as Democrats own multiple crises building all at once, from a ballooning budget deficit to a resident exodus, a power bill crisis, an affordability crisis, and soaring taxes.

There is no accountability in the one-party-ruled state.

NFL salary cap for 2026 hits new high at $301.2 million as part of 40% increase over 5 years

INDIANAPOLIS — The NFL salary cap has topped $300 million for the first time, landing at $301.2 million in 2026 for a $22 million increase over last year.

The cap has increased 40% in just five years, since it dropped coming off the pandemic-altered 2020 season when few or no fans were allowed to attend games.

The numbers were sent to clubs Friday, and teams must be under the salary cap by March 11, the first day of the new league year.

Rapid growth has been expected since the COVID-19 season, and the biggest year-to-year increase of $31 million came from 2023 to 2024.

The cap dropped to $182 million in 2021 from $198 million going into the pandemic season. The increase has been at least $16 million each year since then, with an average increase of $24 million.

Total projected player costs, including benefits, are $378.8 million.

Wide receiver remains the second most lucrative franchise tag at $27.3 million. The quarterback tag is $43.9 million.

$2M in federal funding awarded to ECC’s new Manufacturing and Technology Center

Elgin Community College has landed a $2 million in federal funding to buy training equipment for its new Manufacturing and Technology Center, which remains on track to be completed by the start of the fall semester in August.

The money was secured by U.S. Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi, D-Schaumburg, through the annual appropriations process.

“The $2 million will allow the college to invest in advanced manufacturing training equipment at a higher level and sooner than would otherwise be possible, ensuring students have access to industry-aligned technology that reflects current employer needs,” ECC Director of Communications Andrea Watson said.

Construction remains on schedule for Elgin Community College’s  $88 million, 150,000-square-foot Manufacturing and Technology Center. The fifth phase of work is to begin in April and will include final paving and sidewalks, an ECC spokesperson said. (Elgin Community College)

Krishnamoorthi was also instrumental in obtaining $936,000 in federal funding in March 2023 to be used for ECC’s mechatronics and automation programs.

The fifth phase of construction on the 150,000-square-foot, $88 million building is to begin in April and will include final paving and sidewalks, Watson said.

“Overall, the project is progressing on schedule, and we’re excited to see the building take shape as we move toward completion,” she said.

Site preparation work began in January 2025, followed by foundation installation a month later, structural steel erection in May, and enclosure and interior buildout in October, she said.

ECC is also spending $24 million to remodel Building 0, which is where manufacturing and tech programming is currently offered.

Both projects are being funded with $28.7 million from the state’s Build Illinois Bond Fund, $28.3 million from the college’s capital project fund and $55 million in alternative revenue bonds, which the college sold in September 2024, Watson said.

This semester, 830 students are enrolled in at least one course offered through the school’s manufacturing and tech programs, she said. Those include classes in industrial/integrated maintenance technology, industrial manufacturing technology, HVAC/energy management and welding.

“With the opening of (new center), ECC anticipates expanded capacity and continued growth in these programs, further strengthening the pipeline of skilled talent for local employers,” Watson said.

College officials are also having conversations with regional employers to align training with workforce needs, she said. The school’s apprenticeship programming has expanded in recent years as employer demand has increased, she said.

“We’re working closely with high schools, adult learners and employer partners to highlight the strong career pathways available in manufacturing and technology,” Watson said. “That work aligns closely with statewide efforts such as Make It In Illinois, which is elevating modern manufacturing as a high-skill, high-wage career option.”

The Manufacturing and Technology Center will serve students pursuing associate degrees, certificates and short-term credentials, as well people in the workforce who are building their skill sets.

A group tours the interior of Elgin Community College’s under-construction Manufacturing and Technology Center. U.S. Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi recently secured $2 million in federal funding to pay for advanced manufacturing training equipment. (Elgin Community College)

In a update on the project posted to ECC’s YouTube page in December, Dean of Sustainability, Business and Career Technologies Cathy Taylor said new offerings at the center will include a pipe welding certification program, which can lead to apprenticeships with Pipefitters Local 597 in Chicago.

In response to feedback from local businesses, there also will be quality technician certification and an electrical vehicle program, Taylor said.

The college is changing the name of its industrial maintenance technology program to automation, robotics and maintenance technology, she said.

“Our faculty are working with local employers to identify ways in which we can update our curriculum and make sure it is relevant to what is happening in our local community,” Taylor said in the video.

ECC is in talks with local businesses about donating equipment or money to buy equipment and to come up with ways in which companies can be part of the center.

“We want your involvement,” Taylor said in the video. “We invite you to invite yourself to the table. And to the extent we can, we will be reaching out to you to be looking for ways in which you can help us make this a shining star, a state of the art facility for the local community here in the greater Elgin area.”

Watch: DSNY Heads Supplicate To Allah With Mayor Mamdani In Coercive Islamic Ritual

Watch: DSNY Heads Supplicate To Allah With Mayor Mamdani In Coercive Islamic Ritual

Authored by Steve Watson via Modernity.news,

New York City’s sanitation leadership has been caught on camera participating in an Islamic supplication ritual led by Mayor Zohran Mamdani, a move critics slam as a blatant push toward Islamification.

The scene, captured during a gathering with officers, shows DSNY brass raising hands in dua—a form of prayer to Allah—before wiping them over their faces as instructed in Islamic hadith, all prior to sharing a meal.

While some mistakenly reported those involved as being NYPD, their core point is still salient. Why are the leaders of the DSNY engaging in such behaviour?

New York City’s sanitation leadership has been caught on camera participating in an Islamic supplication ritual led by Mayor Zohran Mamdani, a move critics slam as a blatant push toward Islamification.

The videos, which have racked up views on X, depict the DSNY officials in uniform engaging in the ritual alongside Mamdani, who has long been a controversial figure for his far-left stances and ties to anti-Israel activism.

The development echoes the growing concerns over cultural shifts in New York City, where unchecked immigration and progressive policies have amplified Islamic practices in public spaces.

Just days ago, we covered the massive Ramadan prayer gathering in Times Square that drew comparisons to an “invasion” and sparked backlash from figures like Professor Gad Saad, who quipped sarcastically about the event in the shadow of 9/11.

The Times Square spectacle included chants of “Allahu Akbar” amid the iconic neon lights.

Now, with DSNY leaders openly partaking in such rituals, those worries appear more justified than ever.

Critics argue this isn’t mere inclusivity but a power play, pressuring public servants to conform or risk career stagnation.

In a city already grappling with rising crime and migrant-related chaos, diverting police focus toward religious rituals under a radical mayor raises red flags about priorities.

Mamdani, elected amid New York’s shift toward socialist-leaning Democrats, has pushed policies that prioritize globalist agendas over traditional American values. His leadership now seemingly extends to spiritual mandates, blurring the lines between governance and religious coercion.

This ritual joins a pattern of events eroding the city’s secular fabric, from prayer mats in public squares to potential pet bans rooted in foreign doctrines. As one observer put it in our earlier coverage, these gatherings represent a “cancer” weaponizing free speech while labeling opposition as racist.

With over 285,000 Muslims in NYC, such events may become normalized, but pushback is mounting. From Rep. Fine’s legislative efforts to online outcry, Americans are signaling they won’t surrender their freedoms without a fight.

If this trend continues unchecked, the Big Apple could mirror Europe’s capitulation to radical elements, where Sharia patrols and no-go zones have taken root.

Por WILL WEISSERT

“No tienen dinero.

Valparaiso High School students walk out in ICE protest

More than 100 Valparaiso High School students walked out Friday to stand along Campbell Street in protest of Immigration and Customs Enforcement violence and deportations.

The walkout was one of several that have taken place across Northwest Indiana and the Chicago area in recent weeks to protest the actions of immigration officers, particularly in light of the shooting deaths of Renee Good and Alex Pretti, U.S. citizens shot and killed in Minneapolis in late January.

“I’m really here just to spread the word about the violence and the murders going on,” Kimora Rice said. “We’re supposed to be a free country.”

“They have to do their jobs as ICE agents, but there’s other ways to do this,” she said.

“(Expletive) ICE. They’re some goofies,” Liyah Richmond said. “They’re trying to deport people who might not need to be deported.”

Organizers Nicholas Lune, Natalie Ramos and Karen Arellano were pleased with the turnout.

Valparaiso High School student Nicholas Lune was one of the organizers of Friday’s walkout at Valparaiso High School to protest Immigration and Customs Enforcement on Friday, Feb. 27, 2026. (Michael Gard/for the Post-Tribune)

Ramos said a middle school student who saw one of the posters about the VHS walkout voiced support and said their fellow middle school students would plan one for March.

“It turned out to be bigger than we thought,” Lune said.

Some of the students who didn’t participate were concerned about violence or had difficult classes that period that they didn’t want to miss, Arellano said.

“Skipping one class won’t hurt my future,” Ramos said.

Students whose parents called the school would be reported absent for that period, Lune said.

Lune missed government class to exercise his First Amendment rights to peaceably assemble and speak freely.

“I’m missing a test,” in Spanish class, one student said. “I will take the zero if they don’t let me, but I’ll probably retake it.”

“Valparaiso Community Schools respects students’ rights to express their views and recognizes that civic engagement is an important part of the democratic process especially as we approach the nation’s semiquincentennial,” Superintendent Jim McCall said.

“At the same time, our responsibility is to maintain a safe and orderly learning environment, and students are expected to follow school attendance and behavioral procedures; as such, any violations of the student handbook will be addressed accordingly by school administration.”

“Jesus preached we should love our neighbor,” Isabella Masse said, and not deport them.

“We are all Americans, no matter the race, no matter the age,” Ava Camery said.

“ICE should be by the border,” not targeting blue states, Camery added.

Hispanics and immigrants do jobs that others won’t. “They getting booted out of the United States just because they’re white, not born here,” Camery said.

“I think what’s happening in this country is not correct,” Parker Lewis said. “Our voices need to be heard.”

Lewis said he has lots of friends concerned about what ICE is doing.

“It’s not what our Founding Fathers stood for or believed in,” Andres Garlinaga said. “I want to stand for what is right and what is fair.”

“What Trump is doing will affect us all, no matter what skin tone we have,” Gideon White said. “Even if I myself am white, all of us in this country are affected by this ICE deportation.”

“I could very well be just as affected as my friends,” White said. “It will affect us all if we don’t do something.”

“U.S. citizens are also being taken, and it’s not OK,” Zero Wineinger said. “I’m here doing this for all of the adults, children, teens that have been forcibly taken from their homes.”

Valparaiso High School student Teagan O’Connell is one of more than 100 students who walked out of classes on Friday, Feb. 27, 2026, to protest Immigration and Customs Enforcement. (Michael Gard/for the Post-Tribune)

“ICE is doing so many bad things,” Teagan O’Connell said.

Crown Point High School student journalists Ariana Pancoja and Cameron Qualls were there to cover the story.

“My piece at school is about the ICE protests that are happening all across Northwest Indiana,” Pancoja said. She is one of the CPTV anchors. “It’s really important that we do that for our student body.”

“It’s really looking good for our generation,” Pancoja said.

Cameron Qualls, her cameraman, agreed. With AI and fake news, it’s important to bring a camera or iPhone to document the real story, he said.

Two adults wearing Trump memorabilia were at the scene. One who declined an interview was holding a large wooden cross and a sign that read, “You got Trumped.” He stood apart from the protestors.

James Ferguson, of Valparaiso, was across the street wearing a Trump 2028 hat. “I just wear this hat because it pisses liberals off,” he said.

“I am pro-deportations. I see most of this as just an emotional response to deportations being mean,” he said.
