Israeli forces kill at least 13 people in southern Syria raid, officials and residents say

DAMASCUS, Syria — Israeli forces raided a Syrian village and opened fire when they were confronted by residents on Friday, killing at least 13 people, Syrian officials said, in the deadliest Israeli attack since its troops seized a swath of southern Syria a year ago.

Syria’s Foreign Ministry called the attack a “horrific massacre” and said women and children were among those killed.

The Syrian state news agency SANA said Israeli forces entered the village of Beit Jin aiming to seize local men and opened heavy fire after being confronted by residents. Dozens of families fled the area.

Israel said Friday it conducted an operation to apprehend suspects from the Jamaa Islamiya group in Beit Jin who were planning IED and rocket attacks into Israel. It said other fighters opened fire at the troops, injuring six, and that troops returned fire, including bringing in air support. It said the operation had concluded, all of the suspects were apprehended and a number of fighters were killed.

A local official in the village, Walid Okasha, told The Associated Press that those killed were civilians. Among the dead were a man, his wife, his two children and his brother as well as another man who had gotten married the day before.

Firas Daher, a Beit Jin resident, told the AP that troops moved in around 3 a.m. and were met by “slight resistance, with light weapons.” Troops responded with drones and helicopters and fire from heavy machine guns. “Whenever anyone would move inside the village or any car would move, it would get hit. When we tried to take injured people to the hospital, they would hit the car carrying them,” he said.

Since the fall of former Syrian President Bashar Assad in December 2024, Israeli forces have held a slice of southern Syria that was previously a U.N.-patrolled buffer zone under a 1974 disengagement agreement.

Troops have regularly carried out operations in villages and towns inside and outside the zone, including raids snatching people it says are suspected fighters. Israel has also launched hundreds of airstrikes on Syrian military sites and pushed for a demilitarized zone south of Damascus.

Israeli raids have several times been met by armed local residents. In April, troops raided the town of Nawa, and when confronted by residents, the military carried out airstrikes in the town, killing nine people. A month earlier, Israeli forces killed six people in the village of Koayiah in similar clashes during a raid.

In a previous raid on Beit Jin in June, Israeli forces seized several people who they said were Hamas members — a characterization disputed by residents — and killed a man whose family said had a history of schizophrenia.

Israel says it seized the 155-square-mile demilitarized buffer zone in southern Syria in a pre-emptive move to prevent fighters from moving into the area after Islamist insurgents toppled Assad. It says the move is temporary, but critics accuse Israel of taking advantage of Syria’s turmoil for a land grab. Israel still controls the Golan Heights that it captured from Syria during the 1967 Mideast war and later annexed — a move not recognized by most of the international community.

Syrian officials have condemned the Israeli incursions as a violation of Syria’s sovereignty. On Friday the government called for the international community to take “urgent action” to halt Israeli incursions.

Israel has viewed Syria’s new government, headed by former insurgent leader Ahmed al-Sharaa, with suspicion. The two countries, which do not have diplomatic relations, have been negotiating a potential security agreement to de-escalate.

The deaths in Syria followed a series of strikes by Israel’s air force in parts of southern Lebanon on Thursday. Israel says its ongoing strikes are aimed at preventing Hezbollah from rebuilding after a devastating war last year ended with a ceasefire.

The United Nations on Tuesday said Israel had killed at least 127 civilians, including children, in its strikes on Lebanon since the ceasefire a year ago. Things escalated earlier this week with an Israeli strike in Lebanon’s capital, Beirut, killing a senior Hezbollah official whom Israel described as the group’s chief of staff.

“We Are Everywhere” – Fort Bragg Psychological Warfare Group Posts Chilling Video

“We Are Everywhere” – Fort Bragg Psychological Warfare Group Posts Chilling Video

Authored by Mark Price via Military.com,

A secretive Fort Bragg operation that specializes in influencing people’s thoughts has released a hypnotic recruitment video that is laced with hidden meanings and strange images.

Known as the 4th Psychological Operations-Airborne, or 4th PSYOP, the group specializes in “using the power of the mind to persuade opinion and discourse” among the nation’s enemies.

The 1:17-second clip, posted Nov. 19 on social media, is a string of baffling clips, including old cartoons, masked figures hiding in plain sight and a group of people staring blankly at the viewer over the phrase: “We are everywhere.”

“There is another force applied in combat that we generally don’t think of as a weapon of war. That weapon is words,” the video says.

“Words are weapons… This is psychological warfare.”

The video then beckons: “Join PSYOP.”

As of Nov. 26, the video has racked up more than 15,000 views on Facebook and hundreds of comments and reactions, many noting it “goes hard” with subliminal messages.

Among the surprises found, references to conspiracy theories, the “Ghost Army” that deceived the Nazi generals in WWII and the popular Pepe the Frog GIF shows up in a clown suit. At one point, the phrase “anything we touch is a weapon” flashes and fades.

“Watch it over and over again. Great little nuggets of information for us,” Nidia Law posted on Facebook.

“A lot of crumb drops in this one,” TheJason wrote on Instagram.

“I think y’all have so much fun at work! Would love to be on the other side of this ‘fog show’,” Leigh Eschew said on Instagram.

The U.S. Army noted in a 2024 article that the ideal candidate for psychological operations is “very cerebral and analytical,” which means different types of recruitment methods are required. The group’s recruitment videos are infrequent and tend to cause a stir due to the unusual content.

“The art of PSYOP relies on persuasion rather than physical force. The tools of the trade are logic, fear, desire and other mental factors used to evoke specific emotions, attitudes and behaviors,” according to a U.S. Army report. “The ultimate objective is to persuade enemy, neutral and friendly nations and forces to take favorable actions toward the U.S. and its allies.”

The 4th PSYOP is often referred to as “the ghost in the machine,” because its operations are seldom publicized.

It is based out of Fort Bragg – one of the largest military complexes in the world – and home of the 82nd Airborne and U.S. Army Special Operations Command. The fort covers about 251-square miles is about a 65-mile drive south from downtown Raleigh.

“PSYOP soldiers help ensure decision-makers, partners, and populations receive the right message at the right time. Quiet professionals. Global impact,” the 1st Special Forces Command-Airborne wrote in a post that shared the recruitment video.

Is Trump’s Third World Immigration Ban A Precursor To The Insurrection Act?

Is Trump’s Third World Immigration Ban A Precursor To The Insurrection Act?

Over the Thanksgiving holiday, U.S. President Donald Trump announced sweeping plans to tighten immigration rules, including a suspension on migration from “Third World Countries” and cancellation of all federal benefits and subsidies to “noncitizens” in the country.

The decision comes after a terror attack (the shooting of two National Guardsmen) involving an Afghan migrant, Rahmanullah Lakanwal, admitted to the US under a program for Afghan refugees launched by Joe Biden in 2021 (Operation Allies Welcome).

However, the Trump Admin approved the man’s asylum application in 2025 based on his aid to CIA operations in Afghanistan over a ten year period.

The smart move would have been to err on the side of caution, and this is a lesson Trump is apparently taking to heart.

In a pair of Truth Social posts late Thursday night, Trump said he would “permanently pause migration from all Third World Countries to allow the U.S. system to fully recover.”

The president said he would also terminate “millions” of admissions under his predecessor Joe Biden and remove “anyone who is not a net asset to the United States, or is incapable of loving our country.”

— America (@america) November 28, 2025

Trump added he plans to end all federal benefits and subsidies for noncitizens, “denaturalize migrants who undermine domestic tranquility,” and deport any foreign national he described as a “public charge, security risk, or non-compatible with Western Civilization.”

Critics of Trump argue that he has limited power to implement these changes on a large scale.

Democrats are confident that their activist judges will be able to obstruct Trump’s efforts and many Islamic immigrant communities from have laughed off threats of deportations under the premise that they are protected by visa extensions, temporary protection status and naturalization status.

US House Representative Ilhan Omar claims Trump “doesn’t understand the laws” on TPS, for example, and argues that the vast majority of Somali migrants are safe from deportation.

The recent attack in Washington DC combined with mass interference from NGO funded activists and Democrat leaders calling for the military to “resist” Trump’s “illegal orders” (even though no illegal orders have been issued) is blazing a clear path to one conclusion:  The Insurrection Act.

Third world migrant colonies in the US might not be as safe as they think they are.  Trump’s focus has been on Somali enclaves in places like Minneapolis, MN, where over 25% of all Somalis in the US have congregated, but the problem of migrant colonies is far-reaching.

The surge of Haitian migrants in Springfield, OH took center stage during the presidential debates in 2024 and this tapped into a national conversation about limitations on lack of assimilation by third world asylum seekers.  Muslim enclaves in places like Dearborn, MI are another hot topic, with Islamic fundamentalists now essentially running the city and many residents calling for Sharia Law.

Trump already has the ability to cancel TPS extensions, cancel extensions on visas, and expand the ban on immigrant and visa applications from any countries he chooses (19 nations are already on the ban list).  However, under the Insurrection Act Trump can deploy the National Guard for direct deportations, rather than simply acting a a barrier between ICE agents and protesters.  This would expedite deportations far beyond what is currently possible.

Of course, there will be accusations of constitutional violations, from both Democrats and Republicans.  That said, many of these people may not realize how substantial the public support for deportations is.  According to surveys, 66% of Americans agree with Trump’s deportation policies, even if a migrant has not committed a crime after entry into the country.

Furthermore, around 40% of Americans back the use of the military for deportations.  That’s not a majority, but it’s a massive portion of the population.  If Trump were to implement the Insurrection Act it is likely that he would receive groundswell of popular support.

In other words, lack of integration among third world asylum seekers is self sabotage.  They have become comfortable with the idea that US laws prevent any real intervention against the process of cultural invasion, but this can change rather quickly.  For naturalized citizens there are roadblocks in place, but for all other migrants, the breaking point just arrived.

Overcoming two knee injuries, Oak Forest’s Alex Sebek builds resolve for state title. ‘Really, really happy.’

Oak Forest’s Alex Sebek has all the motivation in the world to make the most of her senior season.

Sebek, who hopes to contend for the state title at 105 pounds, was a state runner-up her freshman season. The last two years, catastrophic knee injuries have caused early ends to her seasons.

The road back hasn’t been the smoothest.

“It was really, really tough,” Sebek said. “There were definitely times when I debated whether I should continue to do this because the process of the recovery was definitely hard on me mentally.

“But I really love wrestling and I just wanted to do everything I could to get back.”

On Nov. 20, Sebek was officially cleared by doctors to resume wrestling.

“I felt really, really happy,” Sebek said. “I was actually jumping around in the doctor’s office. In the back of my head, I’m just praying that this doesn’t happen again for a third time.”

Sebek first injured her right knee in January 2024 while competing with the Bengals’ boys team at the South Suburban Conference Tournament. She attempted to wrestle in the girls regional tournament and believes she may have made things worse.

She was diagnosed with a torn ACL and had surgery that April.

Her first comeback attempt didn’t go as planned.

Alex Sebek, who is heading into her senior season, gets ready for practice at Oak Forest on Thursday, November 20, 2025. (Steve Millar / Daily Southtown)

“I got cleared to wrestle in January, only to re-tear it again a week later,” she said. “So, I had surgery again in February.”

The January injury was on the same right knee. This time, in addition to the ACL, she suffered a torn meniscus.

After the second surgery, Sebek spent most of the first month or so in bed, but she made it to wrestling competitions to support her teammates and her younger brother, Jacob, who placed fourth in Class 2A at 120 pounds as a sophomore last season.

“It was definitely a little rough because I want to be the one to be out there,” Sebek said. “I was like, ‘I wish that was me.’ But being there to help and watch and be around it, that all gave me a good feeling, too.”

Oak Forest coach Jamie Hubbard confirmed that Sebek became an unofficial assistant.

“She really took on a coaching role and she does really well with that,” Hubbard said. “I think our team has grown because of that. She has an ability to teach better than I do. I don’t know what she plans to do with the rest of her life, but she definitely could have a career in it.”

Fellow senior Iyobosa Odiase, a returning state qualifier, is confident Sebek will do big things this season.

“Once she comes back, she’ll be better than ever,” Odiase said. “We already know that. With everything she’s gone through, the motivation that she keeps as she goes through it all definitely inspires the rest of us.”

Now, the trick for Sebek is stay patient. As much as she wants to get out and compete in every tournament, the plan is to ease her back into wrestling.

“I’m definitely going to watch and be very cautious,” she said. “I’m going to do everything I can to make sure I’m OK for the state series. I won’t compete in every tournament or dual, but I’ll always be there to support my team.”

Sebek plans to wrestle in college, although she isn’t sure where yet. But she definitely has some unfinished business to take care of on the high school level first.

“My biggest goal is winning that state title because I fell short of it my freshman year and I missed my opportunities the last two years,” she said. “Now it’s just making sure I can get there.”
