Los Colts podrían necesitar un plan de juego más agresivo para Rivers si quieren salvar su temporada

INDIANÁPOLIS (AP) — El entrenador de los Colts de Indianápolis Shane Steichen prefiere ser el encargado agresivo de llamar las jugadas.
Le gusta arriesgarse en tercera oportunidad, prefiere intentarlo en cuarto down en lugar de despejar y disfruta encontrar formas creativas de expandir el campo. Sin embargo, en este momento, Steichen no puede simplemente confiar en sus instintos.

Y con el tackle derecho Braden Smith ya en la reserva de lesionados y el tackle izquierdo Bernhard Raimann saliendo el domingo con un codo lesionado, la línea ofensiva de los Colts puede tener dificultades para darle a Rivers el tiempo que necesita para lanzar profundo, dejando a los Colts en un aprieto.
Pero al menos Rivers demostró el domingo que les da una opción viable para ganar, sea cual sea el estilo que jueguen los Colts. Solo esperan que Rivers pueda cambiar la dirección de un equipo en declive.

Perú expulsa a Ecuador a 120 migrantes extranjeros, en su mayoría venezolanos, por ingreso irregular
LIMA (AP) — Un total de 120 migrantes, la mayoría de nacionalidad venezolana, fueron expulsados el lunes de Perú hacia Ecuador por haber ingresado de forma irregular a territorio peruano, informaron las autoridades.
Los migrantes, incluidos hombres, mujeres y menores, atravesaron desde la ciudad peruana de Zarumilla el Puente Internacional de la Paz que une a Perú y Ecuador, y fueron expulsados mediante un procedimiento rápido, confirmó a The Associated Press Luis Palma, funcionario de la agencia migratoria peruana.
Los migrantes entran por puentes artesanales en la extensa frontera común de 1.529 kilómetros, la mayoría en zonas inaccesibles de la Amazonía.
En el pasado la policía peruana ha destruido decenas de esos puentes colocados por grupos delincuenciales que cobran dinero a los migrantes para pasarlos de un país a otro. Por ejemplo, entre enero y setiembre de 2022 la policía informó que destruyó 63 puentes artesanales y en el mismo periodo de 2021 se inutilizaron otros 429 puentes artesanales. No hay datos más recientes.
Videos de medios locales mostraron el lunes en un primer momento a los migrantes que no podían pasar porque unas rejas en la frontera binacional se encontraban cerradas, pero luego la policía ecuatoriana las abrió y los migrantes siguieron su camino por la ciudad ecuatoriana de Huaquillas.
La frontera entre Perú y Ecuador ha sido zona frecuente de tráfico de migrantes, también del contrabando de combustible, de productos de primera necesidad, de prendas de vestir y otros que se realiza por décadas entre ambos países, según las autoridades.
El viernes, el presidente interino de Perú José Jerí y el mandatario de Ecuador Daniel Noboa se reunieron en Quito y acordaron luchar conjuntamente contra las organizaciones criminales que actúan en la frontera común. Jerí dijo en rueda de prensa que la frontera debe ser reforzada con tecnología y presencia de las fuerzas del orden.
En noviembre otro incidente con migrantes, la mayoría venezolanos, que deseaban ingresar a territorio de Perú ocurrió en la frontera con Chile. Los migrantes fueron impedidos de entrar por la policía peruana. Perú ha indicado que solo ingresarán desde Chile los migrantes con documentos en regla o por motivos humanitarios.
Durante su campaña electoral el actual presidente electo de Chile, José Antonio Kast, prometió una política de mano dura contra la inmigración irregular y anunció que iba a expulsar a todas las personas indocumentadas de Chile una vez que asuma la presidencia que ocurrirá el 11 de marzo.
Ábrego García aún espera justicia tras su deportación injusta, afirma su abogado

FAIRFAX, Virginia, EE.UU. (AP) — Kilmar Ábrego García no era un activista y no eligió quedar atrapado en lo que se ha convertido en uno de los temas de inmigración más polémicos de la administración Trump, dijo su abogado a The Associated Press el lunes.
Pero mientras experimenta algunos de los pocos días que ha tenido con su familia desde que fue enviado erróneamente a una prisión en El Salvador en marzo, su abogado dijo que todavía espera una resolución justa para su caso.
“Ha pasado por mucho y sigue luchando”, afirmó su abogado Simon Sandoval-Moshenberg durante una entrevista con AP tras la liberación de Ábrego García por orden judicial la semana pasada. “Lo que puede luchar está circunscrito por la ley y por el gran poder del gobierno de Estados Unidos, pero sigue luchando”.

Ábrego García también podría solicitar la residencia (green card) ya que está casado con una ciudadana estadounidense. Pero eso requeriría obtener una exención del gobierno, dijo Sandoval-Moshenberg, y el abogado duda que se le conceda una.
O podría continuar buscando ser trasladado a Costa Rica, dijo Sandoval-Moshenberg, un país que ha ofrecido permitirle entrar como refugiado y vivir y trabajar legalmente. Y no sería devuelto a El Salvador, dijo el abogado.
Pero también cree que el gobierno continuaría luchando contra esa opción.
“Están enfocados en vencerlo. Están enfocados en castigarlo. Están enfocados en hacerlo miserable. Supongo que Costa Rica no es lo suficientemente miserable”, dijo.
Averiguando qué hará el gobierno
Sandoval-Moshenberg dijo que pasó algún tiempo con Ábrego García y su familia el fin de semana hablando sobre los próximos pasos del gobierno y lo que él podría querer para su futuro.
“Hay tantas formas diferentes en que podría ir. Y mucho de eso depende de cuán sucio esté dispuesto a jugar el gobierno”, señaló.
Sandoval-Moshenberg piensa que si el gobierno estuviera dispuesto a trasladarlo a Costa Rica, su cliente lo aceptaría aunque enfatizó que la decisión dependía de él.
Dijo que Abrego García y su equipo legal no considerarían eso justicia, que para él significaría quedarse con su familia en Estados Unidos. Pero Sandoval-Moshenberg dijo que dado todo lo que ha enfrentado y el “hecho de que aparentemente están dispuestos a usar recursos de enjuiciamiento infinitos contra él, la deportación a Costa Rica es un resultado aceptable para él”.
El abogado también enfatizó que hay un lugar al que Ábrego García no quiere ir.
“Su prioridad número uno es no terminar de nuevo en el CECOT”, dijo Sandoval-Moshenberg, refiriéndose al Centro de Confinamiento del Terrorismo, la prisión en El Salvador donde su cliente fue retenido. Sandoval-Moshenberg dijo que Ábrego García fue torturado allí, afirmaciones que las autoridades en El Salvador han negado y que AP no pudo verificar de manera independiente.

Todo el proceso de deportación, encarcelamiento y regreso ha sido “simplemente una experiencia realmente extraña, fuera de este mundo para él”, dijo Sandoval-Moshenberg.
El viernes pasado, la jueza prohibió temporalmente a la administración Trump detener a Ábrego García hasta la próxima audiencia en el tribunal.
Aunque no se ha fijado una fecha para eso, podría suceder tan pronto como a finales de esta semana, dijo Sandoval-Moshenberg, señalando que el vaivén del caso ha sido una lucha para Ábrego García y su familia.
“El suelo bajo sus pies, es solo terremoto tras terremoto”, señaló.

Beijing on Monday accused Manila of staging a “deliberate” provocation and carrying out hazardous and aggressive actions near a contested reef in the South China Sea following a tense weekend incident. China has further blamed Washington for issuing what it labeled as misleading statements that have set the region on edge.
The Philippines said Chinese coast guard vessels used water cannons against Filipino fishing boats near Sabina Shoal during an incident Friday. This led to a weekend of tit-for-tat accusations and denunciations.
China’s narrative is that it claimed Philippine personnel threatened its officers with knives. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said Monday that the Philippines had deployed a large number of vessels in a coordinated and intentional effort to stir up trouble in waters near the disputed shoal.
Guo’s statement said they “repeatedly carried out dangerous maneuvers” and after knives were brandished, “The measures taken by China were necessary to safeguard its territorial sovereignty and maritime rights and interests, were reasonable and lawful, professional and restrained, and beyond reproach.”
“The Philippine side should immediately cease its infringement and provocations, stop hyping and spreading inflammatory narratives, and end the endless self-staged maritime farce,” it added.
However, Western sources say it was Philippine civilians who got the worst of it, with several suffering injuries from the encounter. According to the Philippine side:
Manila rushed two patrol boats to protect fishermen in the South China Sea after a water cannon attack from Chinese cutters that left three injured in one of the most severe incidents at Sabina Shoal this year.
According to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), the incident occurred on Friday near Sabina Shoal when several China Coast Guard (CCG) and China Maritime Militia vessels surrounded 20 Filipino fishing boats operating near the maritime feature located 75 nautical miles from the Philippine island of Palawan. CCG cutters 21559 and 21562 also deployed rigid-hulled inflated boats to cut the anchor lines of the Philippine fishermen, sending them adrift in what the PCG described as an “endangering” action.
Three Philippine citizens sustained injuries, including bruising and open wounds, according to the Philippine Coast Guard. Two fishing vessels were also damaged from the Chinese high-pressure water cannon blasts.
While the injuries don’t seem life threatening, it’s rare moment for one side to emphasize things like open wounds. But Beijing is dismissing the reports as hype and exaggeration.
Philippine President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. said in a speech in Singapore last year that Manila’s red line in dealings in such maritime clashes with China would be crossed if a Philippine citizen were killed – a position that has lately reiterated.
The United States has also restated that its mutual defense treaty with the Philippines applies to Philippine vessels operating in the South China Sea. The State Department has made clear that Article IV of the 1951 US-Philippines Mutual Defense Treaty covers armed attacks on Philippine armed forces, public vessels, or aircraft, including those of the Philippine Coast Guard. And this applies to anywhere in the South China Sea, the prior warning from October indicated.

Colombia: principal partido opositor a Petro elige candidata presidencial

BOGOTÁ (AP) — El principal partido opositor al gobierno del izquierdista Gustavo Petro eligió el lunes a la senadora Paloma Valencia como su candidata presidencial para que lo represente en los comicios de mayo de 2026, en busca de devolver el poder a la derecha.
Valencia, senadora desde 2014, fue la elegida entre una baraja de senadores del Centro Democrático que incluyó María Fernanda Cabal y Paola Holguín, las tres políticas de larga trayectoria en el partido fundado por el expresidente Álvaro Uribe Vélez, quien gobernó entre 2002 y 2010.
“Honraremos el legado del presidente Uribe… (soy) la más leal de sus soldados, la más comprometida por su visión de país, pero sobre todo la más amante de Colombia”, aseguró Valencia al celebrar durante el anuncio público en Bogotá.
El senador Miguel Uribe Turbay también compitió para ser el candidato del partido hasta que el 7 de junio de este año fue atacado a tiros en un mitín como parte de su campaña electoral. Casi dos meses después de estar en estado crítico, falleció en una clínica de Bogotá, lo que marcó el primer magnicidio de un aspirante presidencial en Colombia en los últimos 30 años.
“El Centro Democrático reitera que el sacrificio de Miguel Uribe Turbay y de su familia no será en vano y que su causa por un país más seguro, libre y próspero seguirá siendo una bandera irrenunciable del partido”, aseguró el partido en un comunicado.
Tras la muerte de Uribe Turbay, su padre Miguel Uribe Londoño, lo reemplazó en la aspiración presidencial. Sin embargo, desistió de su postulación luego de que el Centro Democrático lo apartara de la lista de precandidatos.
El partido explicó que Valencia fue escogida luego de que dos firmas especializadas realizaran un estudio cuantitativo con entrevistas en todo el país y consultas a 5.000 militantes del Centro Democrático.
La campaña presidencial en Colombia aún se encuentra en una etapa temprana, con decenas de precandidatos presidenciales que han buscado avales de partidos políticos o recogido miles de firmas de ciudadanos para inscribirse como independientes.
La coalición de izquierda que lidera Petro, primer presidente de izquierda en el país, eligió como su precandidato al senador Iván Cepeda, uno de los más férreos opositores de Uribe Vélez.
El ATP Tour añadirá una regla de calor similar a la que aplica la WTA desde hace más de 30 años

El ATP Tour está añadiendo una regla para abordar el calor extremo durante los partidos de tenis profesional masculino que permitirá descansos de diez minutos durante los partidos individuales al mejor de tres sets a partir de la próxima temporada, similar a lo que se comenzó a usar en el circuito femenino hace más de 30 años.
La aprobación de la nueva política por parte de la Junta de ATP, anunciada el lunes, fortalece “las protecciones para los jugadores que compiten en condiciones extremas”, dijo el tour.
Durante el Masters de Shanghái en octubre, algunos jugadores pidieron al ATP que introdujera directrices para ayudarlos en casos de calor y humedad extremos. El campeón defensor Jannik Sinner dejó de jugar un partido allí debido a calambres severos en las piernas; el campeón de 24 Grand Slams, Novak Djokovic, lamentó las condiciones después de vomitar durante una victoria.

US officials say Washington has agreed to give Ukraine security guarantees in peace talks
BERLIN — The U.S. has agreed to provide unspecified security guarantees to Ukraine as part of a peace deal to end Russia’s nearly four-year war, and more talks are likely this weekend, U.S. officials said Monday following the latest discussions with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Berlin.
The officials said talks with President Donald Trump’s envoys, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, led to narrowing differences on security guarantees that Kyiv said must be provided, as well as on Moscow’s demand that Ukraine concede land in the Donbas region in the country’s east.
Trump dialed into a dinner Monday evening with negotiators and European leaders, and more talks are expected this weekend in Miami or elsewhere in the United States, according to the U.S. officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to comment publicly by the White House.
“I think we’re closer now than we have been, ever,” Trump told reporters at an unrelated White House event. He added, “We’re having tremendous support from European leaders. They want to get it ended, also.”
The U.S. officials said the offer of security guarantees won’t be on the table “forever.” They said the Trump administration plans to put forward the agreement on guarantees for Senate approval, although they didn’t specify whether it would be ratified like a treaty, which needs the chamber’s two-thirds approval.
In a statement, European leaders in Berlin said they and the U.S. committed to work together to provide “robust security guarantees,” including a European-led ”multinational force Ukraine” supported by the U.S.
They said the force’s work would include “operating inside Ukraine” as well as assisting in rebuilding Ukraine’s forces, securing its skies and supporting safer seas. They said Ukrainian forces should remain at a peacetime level of 800,000.
Witkoff and Kushner were accompanied by U.S. Air Force Gen. Alexus Grynkewich, who heads NATO’s military operations and the U.S. European Command, as talks honed in on the particulars of what the U.S. officials described as an “Article 5-like” security agreement. Article Five in the NATO treaty is the collective defense clause stating that an attack on one member is an attack on all.
The U.S. side presented the Ukrainians a document that spelled out in greater specificity aspects of the proposed U.S. security guarantees — something that Ukrainian officials said was missing from earlier iterations of the U.S. peace proposal, according to U.S. officials.
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz called it a “truly far-reaching, substantial agreement that we did not have before, namely that both Europe and the U.S. are jointly prepared to do this.”
Questions over Ukraine’s postwar security and the fate of occupied territories have been the main obstacles in talks. Zelenskyy has emphasized that any Western security assurances would need to be legally binding and supported by the U.S. Congress. Meanwhile, Russia has said it will not accept any troops from NATO countries being based on Ukrainian soil.
Zelenskyy on Monday called the talks “substantial” and noted that differences remain on the issue of territory.
Zelenskyy has expressed readiness to drop Ukraine’s bid to join NATO if the U.S. and other Western nations give Kyiv security guarantees similar to those offered to NATO members. But Ukraine’s preference remains NATO membership as the best security guarantee to prevent further Russian aggression.
Ukraine has continued to reject the U.S. push for ceding territory to Russia. Russian President Vladimir Putin wants Ukraine to withdraw its forces from the part of the Donetsk region still under its control as a key condition for peace.
The U.S. officials on Monday said there is consensus on about 90% of the U.S.-authored peace plan, and that Russia has indicated it is open to Ukraine joining the European Union, something it previously said it did not object to.
The Russian president has cast Ukraine’s bid to join NATO, however, as a major threat to Moscow’s security and a reason for launching the full-scale invasion in February 2022. The Kremlin has demanded that Ukraine renounce the bid for alliance membership as part of any prospective peace settlement.
Asked whether the negotiations could be over by Christmas, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said trying to predict a potential time frame for a peace deal was a “thankless task.”
“I can only speak for the Russian side, for President Putin,” Peskov said. “He is open to peace, to a serious peace and serious decisions. He is absolutely not open to any tricks aimed at stalling for time.”

Drone strikes continue
Russia fired 153 drones of various types at Ukraine overnight Sunday into Monday, according to Ukraine’s Air Force, which said 133 drones were neutralized, while 17 more hit their targets.
In Russia, the Defense Ministry on Monday said forces destroyed 130 Ukrainian drones overnight. An additional 16 drones were destroyed between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m. local time.
Eighteen drones were shot down over Moscow itself, the defense ministry said. Flights were temporarily halted at the city’s Domodedovo and Zhukovsky airports as part of safety measures, officials said.
Damage details and casualty figures were not immediately available.

Two Years Of Milei: A Resounding Success?
When we analyze the economic situation in Argentina, we must first understand the calamity to which the country was left by the socialist government of Alberto Fernandez and years of Peronism.
According to UNICEF, Javier Milei has lifted more than one and a half million children out of poverty in just two years. He has restored economic growth and relaunched Argentina, which was heading towards a disaster similar to Venezuela’s due to the policies of Kirchnerism, often referred to as the “socialism of the XXI century”.
When Milei assumed power, Argentina was hurtling toward hyperinflation and misery, on an accelerated path of economic devastation. Inflation was 25.5% per month.
Under the socialism of the 21st century, Kirchnerism’s “inclusive monetary policy” led to skyrocketing cumulative inflation: between 2011 and 2015, Cristina Fernández de Kirchner oversaw a roughly 175% increase in prices, while Alberto Fernández’s destructive term resulted in a cumulative inflation rate of 1,020%, the highest among the previous five presidents, which meant that prices nearly multiplied tenfold. These policies sank the peso, triggered massive inflation, and drove poverty to over 41.7%, according to official figures. Alberto Fernández left behind nearly 19 million poor and 4.3 million indigent people, multiple exchange rates, a devastating capital control regime, and a bankrupt central bank with net negative reserves of over 15 billion.
Socialism impoverished a rich country like Argentina at an alarming and very rapid rate.
Javier Milei came to power with non-negotiable goals: a fiscal surplus, curbing inflation, and reviving a sunken economy. His first two years in office conclude with a spectacular macroeconomic record: inflation has plummeted from global highs, poverty has fallen back to 2018 levels, the economy is back on a growth trajectory, net debt has been significantly reduced, and real wages are beginning to recover—all thanks to the largest adjustment and deregulation plan in decades.
Milei inherited a monthly inflation rate of 25.5% in December 2023, close to 300% annually—the highest in the world—and has quickly reduced it to around 2.3% per month by October, the lowest level since 2018, with forecasts pointing to a further decline in 2026. Furthermore, the budget has gone from an unsustainable deficit to recording a surplus for the first time in 14 years, thanks to deep cuts in unnecessary spending without harming essential services, closing ministries, eliminating useless agencies, reducing subsidies, and cutting tens of thousands of bloated public-sector jobs from the final stretch of the previous administration.
Letting the economy breathe works.
Appropriate liberalisation policies have significantly reduced poverty. UCA estimates show a nearly 20 percentage point drop from the crisis peaks and a rate in the 31–36% range—the lowest level in six years—while UNICEF estimates that around 1.7 million children have been lifted out of poverty over the past two years. Furthermore, independent analysts place the “real poverty” inherited from Alberto Fernández at levels much higher than 41.7% if the exchange rate was fully adjusted; in any case, even using official figures, the turnaround is undeniable: far fewer people in poverty and greater purchasing power for vulnerable groups when inflation is tackled at its root.
Argentina was already in a recession when Milei took office. Argentina’s GDP fell by 1.6% in 2023, according to INDEC, and had already been declining since 2022, with a 2.2% seasonally adjusted drop in the fourth quarter of 2022. GDP fell by 1.3% in 2024 and soared by 5.2% in the first nine months of 2025. The 2025 economic growth figures have more than compensated for the deficit, demonstrating robust and healthy growth that is not influenced by public spending. The IMF predicts a growth rate of approximately 4.5% for 2025, placing it among the highest in Latin America. By 2026, projections from major organisations place GDP growth at around 3%–4%, with cumulative growth of nearly 8 percentage points between 2025 and 2026. This strong momentum contrasts with the chronic stagnation left behind by socialism, which had the audacity to claim that its problem was that “we’re growing too much.” The confirmation of the GDP decline in 2023 showed that Argentina’s GDP was virtually the same as in 2011, despite soaring public spending and deficits that artificially boosted economic activity.
Milei’s austerity measures have resulted in a sharp reduction in public-sector employment—which had been inflated by Kirchnerism and financed with debt and inflation—while the private sector begins to take over. Milei created more than 650,000 new private-sector jobs. Total employment has grown by 330,000 jobs in two years, according to INDEC, and, most importantly, public-sector employment has fallen by 370,000 unnecessary political positions inflated by Kirchnerism, while private-sector employment has risen sharply. The government’s objective is for formal private-sector employment to grow steadily as the GDP rebound consolidates, with various scenarios placing the unemployment rate at around 6.5% by 2026 if the reforms are maintained.
Public debt reached very high levels at the end of 2023 and has since fallen dramatically in net terms. The debt burden on the economy has fallen sharply: it has been reduced by tens of billions of dollars and has declined in absolute terms and as a percentage of GDP, and the inherited explosive dynamic has been halted. The debt-to-GDP ratio dropped from over 100% between 2020 and 2023, peaking at 155%, to 70% in the third quarter of 2025.
We cannot forget the debt hole hidden in the Central Bank left by socialism. Milei eliminated the central bank’s debt by transferring it to the Treasury, as it should be, and in the two years of his presidency, total debt recorded a net decrease of 48.5 billion. Minister Luis Caputo and Central Bank President Santiago Bausili played a crucial role in defusing the potential explosives left by socialism, preventing them from exploding in the face of the next administration. We cannot forget Diego Santilli’s efforts to ensure the safety and peace of mind of Argentinians in the face of constant sabotage threats, nor Manuel Adorni’s efforts to dismantle socialist propaganda and disinformation.
The primary surplus has been achieved by cutting spending, reducing the burden of inefficient subsidies, curbing public employment growth, and prioritising essential social programs. Fewer subsidies for everyone and more assistance for those who truly need it allow us to reduce debt, control spending, and help those who really require it.
Deregulation to remove the state’s boot from the economy.
DNU 70/2023 and the Ley Bases have dismantled hundreds of regulations in the markets for goods, services, rentals, foreign trade, and public enterprises, led by the Ministry of Deregulation headed by Federico Sturzenegger. The elimination of price controls, the reduction of tariffs, and the opening of sectors such as air transport and real estate have resulted in a greater variety of products and better prices for consumers.
Now it’s investment’s turn, which needs to eliminate the legal uncertainty created by socialism. The RIGI programme, designed to attract large investments of over $100 million, offers regulatory stability and legal certainty, and more than $31 billion in projects have already been announced, especially in mining and energy.
It is essential that Spanish companies invest in the Argentina of freedom, as the United States has done, or they will miss out on the ongoing period of prosperity.
Voters perceive all these macroeconomic achievements: in the midterm legislative elections, La Libertad Avanza won around 41% of the vote compared to the Peronists’ 32%, marking the first time since 1989 that Peronism has ceased to be the largest minority in Congress and enabling the acceleration of structural reforms.
It’s not a miracle. It’s not an experiment. Milei and his government team have implemented economic logic and an unequivocal defence of freedom.
The recipe for our countries is clear: reject gradualism and defend freedom without any reservations… and prosperity flourishes.
