2 women fatally shot in Washington Heights, police say

A 71-year-old woman and a 68-year-old woman were both fatally shot in the chest Saturday night in Washington Heights, Chicago police said.

The two were pronounced dead at around 10:50 p.m. at the scene of the incident, 10442 S. Peoria St., according to Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office records.

Officers took a 75-year-old man who was at the scene into custody and recovered a weapon, according to police, who said charges are pending.
