Gerhardt Facko, 37, of Palos Hills was shot and killed Sunday in a confrontation with the Palos Hills Police Department following a 911 call about a domestic disturbance, the police said in a statement.
The 911 caller said a man armed with a shotgun was going to harm his girlfriend and her children, according to the statement.
Police were sent to Cour Versaille in Palos Hills at about 4:20 p.m. Sunday, the statement said.
“Police arrived on scene and were met by an armed suspect,” the statement said. “An officer involved shooting occurred.”
Facko was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead, according to the statement.
Facko’s cause of death was listed in the Cook County medical examiner’s report as multiple gunshot wounds.
The Illinois State Police Public Integrity Unit is investigating the incident, the police statement said. No other injuries were reported.
