Chicago Bears free safety Kevin Byard III, center Drew Dalman and left guard Joe Thuney earned Pro Bowl nods when the NFC and AFC rosters were announced Tuesday.
It’s Thuney’s fourth straight selection — and first in the NFC — Byard’s third selection and Dalman’s first.
Dalman and Thuney are part of a revamped Bears offensive line. Dalman, 27, signed in free agency in March after four seasons with the Atlanta Falcons, while the 33-year-old Thuney, a 10th-year veteran, was acquired in an trade with the Kansas City Chiefs.
Byard, 32, leads the NFL with six interceptions in his second season with the Bears. He also was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2017 and 2021 with the Tennessee Titans.
Bears players received a big boost from fan voting, which makes up a third of the total balloting. Twenty-six Bears finished among the top 10 vote-getters from fans at 18 of the 20 Pro Bowl positions.
Quarterback Caleb Williams and Byard cracked the overall top five in fan votes, though Williams didn’t make the final cut. Neither did cornerback Nahshon Wright, who leads the NFL with eight takeaways (five interceptions and three fumble recoveries).
The last time the Bears had at least three players selected to the Pro Bowl was 2019, when cornerback Kyle Fuller, free safety Eddie Jackson, outside linebacker Khalil Mack and special teams player Cordarrelle Patterson received the honor.
This season’s Pro Bowl Games, which features a flag football game, takes place Feb. 3 in San Francisco and will air live on ESPN.
