Male juvenile shot in Carpentersville Friday night, police say

A male juvenile was shot in the leg Friday night on Carpentersville’s east side, Deputy Police Chief Kevin Stankowitz said.

Officers responding to a 911 call about 6 p.m. about a shooting near Robin and Wren roads located the victim, who was taken by paramedics to a local hospital to be treated for a non-life-threatening injury, he said.

The victim had been walking near the intersection when the shooting occurred, Stankowitz said Saturday. No details on what might have provoked the incident, if it was accidental, intentional or a drive-by, or if the victim and shooter knew each other was released.

“Several juveniles in the area of the incident were located and interviewed,” a news release issued Saturday said.

A social media post Friday said the shooting appeared to be an isolated incident and that there was no threat to the public.

Anyone with additional information should call Detective Sgt. Abdiel Acevedo at 847-551-3481.
