Eads Elementary teacher Michele Brandt received a state teaching award recently during an Indiana Department of Education recognition gala in Indianapolis.
Brandt received the Dedicated Educator Excellence award, which honored her commitment and professional growth in teaching and her collaboration efforts.
The award, which includes a $1,500 prize, recognizes educators with six to 15 years of experience who actively pursue development opportunities and serve as mentors, champions, and partners in advancing teaching and learning within their schools.
“We are incredibly proud of Michele and the impact she makes each day,” said Amy Yoos, director of elementary education.
“Michele is an exceptional educator whose influence extends far beyond her classroom. She leads with heart, purpose, and professionalism, always striving to elevate both student learning and her colleagues,” said Eads Principal Linda Bevil.
The event provided $270,000 to schools and educators focusing on statewide education priorities, including literacy, the science of reading, STEM education, reimagining high school, strengthening community partnerships and innovative professional learning.
The gala also honored Indiana’s first cohort of Blue Ribbon Schools, which included St. John the Evangelist Catholic School in St. John.
The U.S. Department of Education discontinued the award this year.
