A Chicago Police officer now faces more than a dozen felony charges for allegedly accepting bribes in exchange for allowing a civilian to use his encrypted CPD radio.

Alain Dillon, 37, was charged by the Office of Illinois Attorney General with three counts of bribery and 15 counts of official misconduct, according to a statement from Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul’s office.

Cook County court records show Dillon made his first court appearance Tuesday and pleaded not guilty. The next hearing is scheduled for March. His attorney could not be reached for comment.

The charges allege Dillon accepted $500 on at least three occasions from a man who was then allowed access to Dillon’s police radio “for their personal use.”

In recent years, the city moved to digitally encrypt all CPD radio transmissions. While still accessible to the public, the radio communications are now broadcast on a 30-minute delay.

CPD staffing records show that, as of January, Dillon was assigned to the Alternate Response Section, the department’s non-emergency call center that’s staffed by scores of officers facing possible disciplinary action.
