A woman suffered smoke inhalation at an overnight fire at an apartment building in the Uptown neighborhood that left seven people, including a child, displaced, Chicago police said.
Police responded to a call of a fire shortly before 1:15 a.m. at a residential building in the 4900 block of North Glenwood Avenue in the Uptown neighborhood, police said. Upon their arrival, the fire was extinguished by firefighters at the scene, police said.
Officers said multiple people were displaced in the fire, including a child. A woman who had suffered smoke inhalation was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center where she was listed in good condition, police reported.
The Red Cross was summoned to the scene.
No other injuries were reported in the fire, and the Chicago Fire Department was investigating the cause of the blaze.
